Superintendent Wendell A. Beets

Indeed, in over 31 years of serving in the office of Pastor, Elder Wendell Anthony Beets has certainly demonstrated himself to be a man with the heart of God.  A native of Thornton, Arkansas, Elder Beets was born to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Beets and made his way to Iowa after serving this country in the United States Air Force.  While residing in Iowa, he has attended Coe College and completed several advanced ministry courses that have included Growing Through Bible Study, Good News About Jesus, The Way in Marriage, and Roman’s Bible Study Course Series.

Elder Beets accepted Christ and his call to the ministry after moving to Iowa under the leadership of the current Iowa Jurisdictional Presiding Prelate, Honorable Bishop Hurley Bassett Sr.  Elder Beets was subsequently ordained in the Church of God in Christ, Inc. (C.O.G.I.C.) and founded the Sound Doctrine C.O.G.I.C. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in October 1977. He served as pastor of the Sound Doctrine C.O.G.I.C. until resigning in 1992.  Upon his resignation, he appointed  Elder Joseph A. Pledge to take over pastoral duties, eventually being officially appointed pastor of the Sound Doctrine C.O.G.I.C.  Pastor Pledge eventually changed the name of the church to New Life C.O.G.I.C.

After resigning, Elder Beets evangelized until a bible study group began convening at his home. It was from this small bible study group that the Word of Faith Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C. was birthed in 1993.  The first pastor of the Word of Faith Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C. was Elder R.L. Daye, the current Superintendent of the W.D. Smith District of the Iowa Jurisdiction. Supt. Daye served as pastor for one year until Pastor Beets was appointed the new pastor of the Word of Faith Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C. upon Supt. Daye’s recommendation.

Elder Beets continues to excel in ministry, finding favor in the sight of God and in the sight of many in the Kingdom of God. Elder Beets has served and continues to fervently serve the Kingdom of God in many capacities that include: United States Chaplains Association member, Assistant Superintendent of the W.D. Smith District, W.D. Smith District YPWW President of the Youth Dept.

Without a doubt, Elder Wendell Anthony Beets presses towards the indelible mark with a love for God, His people, and His ministry like no other.  Indeed, he strives to carry out his responsibilities as a husband, father, evangelist, and pastor with an intense fervor that has grown without bound with each passing year.
